The events industry is full of creativity, but it can also create a lot of waste. At Story Events, we’re on a journey to change that. Every Show gives us an opportunity to do things differently; to reuse, repurpose and rethink how we can make a positive impact.
Breathing New Life into Our Graphics
This year, we took our stand graphics, one of the biggest sources of waste at exhibitions, and gave them a new story to tell. Instead of being discarded after the Show, the majority of our graphics were given new life; either by being donated to local schools, to become backdrops for festive plays and creative classroom projects, or given to a reuse charity to turn the offcuts into arts and crafts materials for the local community.
What once helped bring an event to life will now inspire imagination elsewhere. A huge thank you to all our exhibitors who opted to go greener and support this initiative, your efforts really do make a difference!
Measuring and Offsetting Our Impact
Of course, sustainability isn’t just about what we reuse, it’s also about understanding our footprint. By using TRACE by isla, we’ve been able to measure our event’s carbon emissions for the past two years. We’re proud to say that we’ve reduced our footprint from 27.2 tCO2e at LSES 24 to 24.4 tCO2e at LSES 25. Tracking our emissions like this helps us identify the areas where we can do better and continue improving year-on-year.
We are committed to offsetting our event’s impact, to do so we supported the below global projects with B1G1:
- Plant 414 trees around the world
- Rescue 46kg of food in Singapore
- Provide 690 days of solar light in India
Supporting Global Projects
By simply attending our events, you can make a positive impact by choosing to support life-changing projects around the world with B1G1. On your way out of the event, you can drop your lanyard in one of three donation points and we’ll donate to your chosen cause on your behalf. Your participation in dropping your lanyards off at our last event meant we were able to give back:
- 504 meals provided globally
- 304 days of water pump maintenance for school children in Tanzania
- 248 days of education for disadvantaged children in Nepal

Supporting the Next Generation
Through our #StoryGivesBack initiative, we’re also helping fresh talent take their first step into the industry. Every year, two new suppliers win a complimentary stand at the Show, giving them the chance to connect with hundreds of event professionals and share their ideas with the world.
