London Summer Event Show

Winners of our #StoryGivesBack Initiative

Our #StoryGivesBack initiative is a section at the London Summer Event Show where we offer the chance for 4 of the newest event suppliers to present themselves to the market with a complimentary stand at the event.

Why #StoryGivesBack is such an important part of our Show…
As a relatively young company (Story Events), we know the importance of giving a helping hand to others who are trying to launch a new brand or product. This initiative gives event suppliers who may not have the marketing budget available a chance to exhibit free of charge at the Show – helping to boost their presence in the events market.

Who were this year’s winners?
This years vote (voted by our past visitors) took place throughout September and we are delighted to announce that the 4 winners receiving a complimentary stand at our next event on 23 – 24 January at Banking Hall are…

1. FLUFFY PUFFIN

What We Do: We provide ice cream and sorbet (as well as limitless dessert garnishes) and present it as an interactive bespoke experience with a difference.
Future Aspirations: To roll out more vans/bars (hoping to have 3 by spring 2019 and 6 by 2020) to enable us to cater at multiple events on the same day. Small, bespoke quality and personal service will always remain as our foundations.

2. THE ARTISAN STRAWBERRY VAN

Who Are We: We come from 3 generations of street traders, all running fruit and veg stalls around central London. After the market for fresh fruit and veg began to decline we helped our father transform his failing fruit stall on Oxford Street into a successful juicebar “Juicebox”and creating a fresh strawberry bar on the stall selling strawberries and cream and dipped chocolate strawberries we realised that the public adore this English classic and that it could be a great success at private events, festivals and weddings. We scoured the classic vehicle ads, came across a vintage ice-cream van and the Artisan Strawberry Van was born.

What We Do: We source the highest quality strawberries on the market and serve them with traditional cream as well as a choice of other gourmet toppings, we also have a selection of fresh strawberry-based cocktails, smoothies and juices as well as hand dipped belgian chocolate strawberries.

Future Aspirations: We would like to increase the number of vans enabling us to do multiple hires as well as finding new locations for Juicebox and creating a chain for his business.

3. DRUNKEN DAIRY

Who Are We: After making boozy ice cream at home, I was finally kicked into doing this by my three (grown-up!) daughters, all of whom are part of the business. We sold our very first tubs at the Crystal Palace Overground festival in 2013, and now operate from premises in Purley.

What We Do: We can either just supply our products (in handy spoon-in-lid individual tubs or catering packs) or we can come along with a mobile freezer and staff to serve guests and get involved, which we just love doing because then we get to share the excitement of people meeting and eating us!

Future Aspirations: There are loads of different markets for our tipsy cow to grow into – but whilst major retailers are an obvious option we will always stick with the events sector because one of the things we enjoy most is creating new flavours and wowing your guests.

4. CONNECTION CREW

Who Are We: We’re a crewing company and we started out a little differently. We started in 2005 as part of the homelessness charity The Connection at St Martin’s. We employed people who had been homeless in the past, giving them a place in our crew and helping them develop purpose, confidence and independence. We’ve employed 180 people who’ve been homeless. Every team member we’ve ever employed with a history of homelessness has gone on to education or continued employment. We’re delighted that none of them has returned to homelessness.

What We Do: We’re an award winning crewing company working in the UK and internationally. We work alongside venues, event organisers and producers, creative teams and other crews, providing the manpower to get events up and running.

Future Aspirations: Over the next couple of years we plan to broaden our impact on homelessness further through a range of new initiatives. For example, we’re exploring the causes of homelessness so we can work toward preventing homelessness for those most at risk. We’re working toward expanding our Crew Academy programme.
